The X Factor star opens up about her battle with food
Former Queen Of The Jungle, Stacey Solomon has opened up about struggling to come to terms with her body shape when she was younger.
The brave TV star revealed to Loose Women viewers that she hasn’t always been so confident, and admitted that looking at photos of herself used to make her ‘feel sick’ – even to the point of avoiding food altogether.
When the ladies started discussing whether midlife trauma’s can trigger an eating disorder, co-star Nadia Sawalha prompted the mum-of-two to talk about her own heartbreaking battle with food.
‘I have been bigger than I am now and probably what I would say is that I was a bit too big for my own frame, for what my bones could carry,’ Stacey, 27, explained to fellow panellists Andrea McClean and Jane Moore.
When a picture of a younger Stacey on the beach then appeared behind the star, Jane commented: ‘To me, that’s a pretty normal body.’
But despite the positive comments from her pals, Stacey went on: ‘It’s not that I was medically overweight, I felt different.’
Explaining the reasons behind her struggle, the star added: ‘I remember looking at magazines and seeing pictures of women that were really slim and what you’re ‘supposed to look like’ and just getting anxiety from looking at the pictures.
‘It made me feel sick, I didn’t want to eat.’
When she was asked why she felt this way, Stacey went on: ‘I wouldn’t use that to not eat, I physically couldn’t.
‘I would look and think: “Oh I don’t look anything like that person, it’s horrible.”‘
Poor Stacey – how sad is that?
But viewers were quick to praise the star, who’s now happily engaged to fellow presenter Joe Swash, and fans took to Twitter to celebrate her return to the panel.
Sending our love to Stacey!
